【 要旨 】 MBD-5D研究は，わが国の二次性副甲状腺機能亢進症を有する透析患者を対象に，診療パターンが慢性腎臓病に伴う骨・ミネラル代謝異常（CKD-MBD）の管理状態に及ぼす影響，またこれらの要因が患者アウトカムに及ぼす影響を分析することを目的に計画された多施設共同前向き観察研究である．本研究はCKD-MBD領域におけるエビデンスを創出するうえで大きな貢献を果たし，その成果は国際的にも大きな関心を集めている．また公募研究によりデータベースが二次的に活用され，新しい知見も得られている．本稿では，MBD-5D研究のデザイン，および本研究から得られた成果について概説する．

[ Summary ] Japanese CKD Stage 5D Patients (MBD-5D) is a multicenter, prospective observational study of hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of practice patterns on the management status of chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD), and their respective impact on patient-level outcomes. The MBD-5D has contributed immensely to the body of evidence in this area, and the research findings have raised particular interest internationally. The MBD-5D database has also been utilized to test new hypotheses. In this article, we provide a brief overview of the design and key research fi ndings from the MBD-5D study.
