A transplant coordinator plays very important roles in several aspects of the procedure involved in organ transplantation, which are essential in maintaining fairness in organ donation and allocation process and for the accountability of patients, their families, and hemodialysis facilities. The donor coordinator and recipient coordinator are the primary coordinators in this field. The donor coordinator is mainly responsible for the processing of organ donation and procurement. In contrast, the recipient coordinator usually manages the dialysis patients who are on the waiting list and coordinates with the dialysis facilities and transplant physicians and surgeons at the time of nomination of the transplant candidate. In this article, the coordination between the recipient coordinator and hemodialysis staff is introduced. |
