| [ Summary ] |
CAPD related infection is an important problem influencing the continuation of CAPD therapy. In recent years, the development of the various devices and the establishment of treatment management have resulted in a decrease in CAPD peritonitis. However, the number of incurable, prolonged or relapsing peritonitis cases is increasing and the number of cases developing sclerosing encapusulated peritonitis (SEP), has increased also. Exit-site and tunnel infections are not only common complications, but also important causes of catheter removal and technical failure in CAPD patients, despite the development of various catheter care methods. It is a permanent problem, in that the control of CAPD related infections is necessary to provide longer and good quality of life for CAPD patients, but this problem has not yet been solved. We want to consider the present situation and countermeasure for the problem in future CAPD related infections. |
