[ Summary ] | Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has commonly been regarded as an accurate method of assessing cancer invasions and submucosal tumors. Three dimensional EUS (3D-EUS) imaging allows us to visualize the tumor shape with an ultrasonographic image. 3D-EUS is also helpful to understand tumors spatially and makes it easy to find the deepest point of cancer invasion. The volume measurement feature is useful for evaluating the efficacy of chemotherapy. Using a mechanical spiral scan, we created Dual-Plane Reconstruction (DPR) images, which display both radial and linear images simultaneously on a monitor in real time. This makes it possible to more accurately assess cancer invasion, especially in lesions on the fold and in a bent portion. The precision of diagnosis improved. 3D-EUS must be continually improved to further our ability to diagnose with improvements in computer technology. |
