The usefulness and concerns associated with anti-TNF α treatment for intestinal Behçet's disease are outlined. Anti-TNF α treatment is effective for cases in which treatment resistance is a concern. It is currently being used for many cases including those which are refractory. On the other hand, the evidence pertaining to efficacy has been obtained from only several case reports and results from a limited number of clinical trials. Thus, anti-TNF α treatment should be used cautiously, paying attention to adverse effects. |
