| [ Summary ] |
To elucidate the clinicopathologic features of lower gastrointestinal hemangiomas and lymphangiomas, and to determine the most appropriate way to diagnose and treat these conditions, cases of lower gastrointestinal hemangiomas and lymphangiomas reported in Japan between June 1993 and May 2003 are reviewed. A total of 205 such cases were distributed as follows : small intestinal hemangiomas 74 ; large intestinal hemangiomas 131 ; multiple hemangiomas of the lower gastrointestinal tract 6 ; small intestinal lymphangiomas 26 and large intestinal lymphangiomas 81. The clinical, endoscopic, macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of each condition are herein documented and compared in detail. |
