It is important to have good scope control in order to observe lesions, when using magnifying colonoscopy. It is difficult for inexperienced endoscopists to bring the lesions into focus using magnifying colonoscopy because the focal distance is shorter with magnification. We recommend the following steps to master observation when using magnifying colonoscopy. (1) Learning to use low power magnification for lesions which have large pit patterns, Type IIIL or IV (2) Learning the differences between Type II and IIIL (3) Learning to use high power magnification for lesions having which small pit patterns, Type IIIS or V (4) Learning to use high power magnification for lesions which have Type V pit patterns with crystal violet dyeing. Using magnifying colonoscopy during routine work may be the best way to learn these techniques. |
