[ Summary ] |
Recently, many lesions of superficial pharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma have been detected using gastrointestinal endoscopy. NBI (Narrow Band Imaging) magnification is useful not only for the detection but also for the characterization of superficial squamous cell carcinomas. However, for a precise diagnosis, a certain degree of knowledge and technical expertise are required. In this paper, we describe the actual status of endoscopic observation in the pharynx and the utility of the NBI magnification for the diagnosis of the tumor invasion depth of superficial pharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. |
