[ Summary ] |
To provide high quality dialysis treatment, team conferences that are not limited to a single occupational group within the hospital, but include community care professionals and co-medical personnel centered on physicians, are needed. During team conferences members exchange information and attempt to reach a consensus of opinion, while investigating strategies to overcome problems. Moreover, with experience the conferences begin to proceed more effectively. One other aspect of the conferences is that they are of a setting where members can communicate with and support each other. By understanding patients from the nurses' viewpoint at these conferences, clinical abilities such as ways to judge, evaluate, and handle individual patients can be developed, and we can learn how to deal with staff members in other positions. This report will describe what can be gained from conferences through a discussion of conferences at the author's hospital. |
