| [ Summary ] |
For the correct diagnosis of and appropriate therapy for colorectal neoplasms, we need comparative studies of macroscopic appearances and histological findings. Handling procedures are outlined as follows : First, excised specimens should be fixed in forms similar to the endoscopic view. Secondly, the presence of neoplasms at the excision margin should be confirmed macroscopically and stereomicroscopically. Thirdly, the presence of submucosal invasion should be searched for macroscopically and stereomicroscopically. Finally, we must obtain cut specimens at the most appropriate site for correct diagnosis.
These procedures will lead us to improve our diagnostic abilities and to make choice for the most appropriate therapy for patients. |
