【 要旨 】 光デジタル法による画像強調観察であるNarrow Band Imaging(NBI)は多くの医療現場で用いられ,論文や学会発表でさまざまな有用性が報告されている.オリンパスメディカルシステムズ㈱は,内視鏡診断・治療へのさらなる貢献を目指し,さまざまな技術開発に取り組んでいる.本稿では,NBIの基本原理とともに,最新内視鏡システムEVIS LUCERA ELITEに搭載した最新NBIについて,その特徴と実現技術の解説をする.

[ Summary ] Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) which is a type of Image-Enhanced Endoscopy which employs an Optical-Digital Method, is widely used in many hospitals and clinics. Various effectiveness and potentials for future uses have been reported in many clinical reports and conference presentations.
The OLYMPUS MEDICAL SYSTEMS CORP. developed the next-generation EVIS LUCERA ELITE endoscopic system to support endoscopic diagnosis and treatment by improving many new technologies. These technologies include the latest NBI, Dual focus function, higher image quality and improvements in colonoscopic insertion.
Especially, the latest NBI in EVIS LUCERA ELITE is brighter and clearer than conventional system (EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM), positive results are expected in various regions and situations. The basic principles of NBI and three technical facets of the latest NBI in EVIS LUCERA ELITE are described.
These include improved brightness due to a new xenon lamp in the light source unit, use of NBI double exposure technology, and noise reduction in the image processor unit.
