[ Summary ] |
A number of complications are associated with colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). These include high complication rates, longer procedure times, and high levels of technical difficulty. Therefore, a variety of electrosurgical knives has been developed to enable safe and simple procedures. These knives are classified into two types including the ‘all-rounder’, which can be used for mucosal incision and submucosal dissection and the ‘reliever’ which enables safe and effective dissection in difficult situations. Operators should be sufficiently familiar with the features of both, including the advantages, and disadvantages of each knife, and be able to select the appropriate devices on a moment's notice. |
