[ Summary ] |
The number of patients with Crohn's disease (CD) who develop cancer is increasing. In relation to the cases reported in Japan, this type of cancer is frequently associated with anorectal lesions. However, since it is difficult to make an early diagnosis, even by employing all presently available examination methods, the prognosis of affected individuals is poor. On the other hand, the quality of life for patients following a proctectomy has been reported to generally improve. Therefore, it is considered that rectal amputation may become a reasonable long-term option for patients with anorectal lesions, especially rectal stenosis. |
