[ Summary ] |
Capsule endoscopy and balloon‒assisted enteroscopy play a major role in the diagnosis and treatment of small intestinal diseases. In 2015, the Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) developed the "Clinical Practice Guidelines for Enteroscopy". These guidelines describe the principle, efficacy, and safety of capsule endoscopy and balloon‒assisted enteroscopy. They also describe the enteroscopy procedure for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, small intestinal strictures, tumors, polyposis, and other small intestinal diseases. In this section, in addition to focusing on the important features of these guidelines, we will introduce our strategy in clinical practice and the latest topics after the development of these guidelines, such as artificial intelligence and motorized spiral enteroscopy. |
