[ Summary ] |
Endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) is indicated as the standard treatment for common bile duct stones, as well as for various endoscopic diagnoses and therapy in pancreatobiliary diseases. It is important to establish clinical guidelines to perform EST safely and accurately. Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society has recently compiled the "Clinical Guideline for Endoscopic sphincterotomy" as fundamental guidelines using evidence‒based methods. The working committee established 23 clinical questions (CQ) from 6 sections including indications, techniques, special cases, complications, outcomes, and postoperative observation. The guidelines are consisted with statements and comments regarding each CQ. |
