| [ Summary ] | In this paper, we have described important points that physicians should be aware of in this context and discussed the latest studies that have reviewed the treatment of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). FAP is an autosomal dominant inherited disorder characterized by the growth of multiple polyps in the large intestine. We have specifically described important points regarding genetic counseling in patients with FAP. For details regarding treatment of FAP, please also refer to the "Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum Guidelines 2016 for the Treatment of Hereditary Colorectal Cancer". |
