[ Summary ] |
Herein, we explain the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis based on imaging studies, such as radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Contrast enhanced dynamic CT is most important for the exact diagnosis of acute pancreatitis and for the evaluation of the complications and the degree of severity of pancreatitis. The revised Atlanta classification (2012) and the revised Japanese guideline of acute pancreatitis 2015 classified acute fluid collection into acute peripancreatic fluid collection (APFC) and acute necrotic collection (ANC) and late fluid collection into pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC) and walled‒off necrosis (WON). We performed a differential diagnosis of these 4 types of fluid collections associated with acute pancreatitis using dynamic CT and MRI. |
