Ischemic colitis was classified into three types in Marston's report. However, recent advances in endoscopy brought the venous vessel origin of ischemic colitis and other new types of ischemic colitis. Therefore, further classification is necessary to include these lesions. In this report, we evaluated newly categorized ischemic diseases and summarized the new classifications for ischemic colitis, of both arterial and venous origins. Endoscopic differentiation of degree was also discussed in relation to ischemic colitis. |
