| [ Summary ] |
A 68-year-old man was hospitalized for the treatment of a transverse colon tumor. Standard colonoscopy findings indicated a mild reddish, superficial depressed tumor. Findings on chromoendoscopy with indigo carmine revealed an elevation inside the central depression of the tumor. Further, magnifying endoscopy findings with narrow band imaging (NBI) revealed a slightly irregular surface pattern. However, we did not observe a detailed pit pattern inside the depression on magnifying endoscopy with crystal-violet staining, due to a strong presence of mucus. On standard colonoscopy, this lesion seemed to invade the submucosal layer. However, magnifying endoscopy with NBI and non-rigidity indicated an intramucosa tumor. We performed endoscopic mucosal resection of the tumor. Histological examination of the tumor specimen revealed low-grade tubular adenoma, with a lymphoid follicle on the muscularis mucosa. |
