[ Summary ] | Some drugs that are used to treat lifestyle related diseases have effects on bone. Thiazolidinediones, which are anti-diabetic agents, have been shown to be associated with increased risk of fractures. Statins, which lower serum cholesterol levels, were expected to be beneficial for bone based on their potent effects on bones seen in experiments. However, clinical studies have revealed that statins have little, if any, effect on bone. |
