[ Summary ] Case-based management in the individual case is recommended for the terminal stage of the patients, because there are various backgrounds to emergency medicine and critically ill patients. Hemodialysis patients should communicate to family members and health professionals, their care needs for their terminal stage in emergency and critical care medicine. Additionally, they should prepare the living will as an advance directive. The program of palliative care for dialysis patients should be developed as soon as possible. Moreover, all staffs of hemodialysis should complete the program for their dialysis patients.
