[ Summary ] |
At this time, conventional hemodialysis treatment (weekly 3 × 4 hr hemodialysis) has been reviewed and diversified. The types of therapeutic modalities available include prolonged dialysis (more than 6 hrs per day), short daily hemodialysis and on-line hemodiafiltration (HDF). In our hospital, long time dialysis and on-line HDF are used. Long term dialysis treatment must include aiding patients social recovery. On-line HDF is effective in reducing side effects, such as pain and stress which come from dialysis induced amyloidosis and restless leg syndrome. For these updated clinical dialysis modalities to meet the needs of individual patients, nurses and clinical engineers must share patient information and improve cooperation each other. |
