[ Summary ] | Proliferating cells of nonneoplastic polyps were localized at the lower zone of the crypts. In contrast, proliferating cells extended from the lower zone to the upper zone of the crypts in neoplastic polyps. Distribution of the proliferating cells was associated with a concentration of nuclei in HE staining. Therefore, to detect location in the concentrated nuclei, it was necessary to clarify the difference between neoplastic lesions and nonneoplastic lesions. We investigated nonneoplastic polyps, which were resected endoscopically. Most of the colon polyps were composed of tubular adenomas, intramucosal cancers and hyperplastic polyps. Under five percent of polyps displayed other nonneoplastic polyps historically. We described typical nonneoplastic polyps of the colon. We concluded it is necessary to collect many polyps resected by many medical institutions for further examination of nonneoplastic lesions excluding those related to hyperplastic polyps. |
