[ Summary ] |
Although the colonic muscularis mucosae can usually be easily recognized by using Hematoxylin & Eosin (HE) staining, which is used daily in pathological examinations, sometimes it is difficult to detect the muscularis mucosae, due to cellular destruction, for example, when the colorectal carcinoma has invaded the submucosal layer. In this passage, we describe the morphological characteristics of muscularis mucosae as seen in HE staining and special stainings. We also explained a way of judging and the identifying for muscularis mucosae in the diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma, with submucosal invasion. |
