[ Summary ] |
Clinical features of hemorrhagic colitis associated with O157 Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) and non-O157 STEC are reviewed. Hemorrhagic colitis associated with O157 STEC presents characteristic colonoscopic fi ndings associated with the inflammatory gradient and longitudinal ulcers. On the other hand, little is known about the colonoscopic findings accompanying with hemorrhagic colitis associated with non-O157 SETC. One case of hemorrhagic colitis associated with non-O157 STEC (O55) is presented. The colonoscopic findings resembled those of ischemic colitis. Additionally, the German O104 STEC outbreak in 2011 is outlined from medical literature. |
