[ Summary ] |
Gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity due to use of chemotherapeutic drugs is a common problem in cancer patients. Chemotherapy-induced diarrhea (CID) is one of the most commonly observed problems with these patients. CID can be debilitating and in some cases, life-threatening. Several molecularly targeted agents may lead to GI toxicity. Three types of colitis are described in relation to their association with chemotherapy : neutropenic enterocolitis, ischemic colitis, and C. difficile-associated colitis. |
