| [ Summary ] | Recently, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for gastric tumors has come into more wide spread use. ESD for colorectal tumors has been employed also. However, serious complications with ESD for colorectal tumors, which are due to the thinness of the colorectal wall have been reported. Therefore, devices that could enhance the safety of ESD are hoped for. The Mantis hook was developed to improve the safety and efficiency of ESD for colorectal tumors. The Mantis hook is a large type hook, and has made ESD operations safe and fast, enabling us to draw up fibers in the colorectal submucosa. In our hospital, perforation of the colorectum with ESD, when using the Mantis hook, has never occured. To make ESD safer and more efficient, the K snare to incise mucosa and the Mantis hook to exfoliate the submucosa, were developed. These devices will bring ESD for colorectal tumors into general use for endoscopy after sufficient examinations. |
