[ Summary ] In this paper, we describe the important points that endoscopists should be aware of and introduce the latest studies on the treatment of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).FAP is an autosomal dominant inherited disorder with the main characteristic of multiple polyposis in the large intestine. We describe particularly important points for the surveillance of colorectal adenoma and colorectal cancer in FAP patients. Recently, endoscopic polypectomy has been actively conducted. We present the status of our studies. For the treatment of FAP, please also refer to the "JSCCR Guidelines 2016 for the Treatment of Hereditary Colorectal Cancer," published by the Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum (JSCCR).
