[ Summary ] Direct acting antivirals (DAAs), which have recently been developed as agents for treating chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, have increased sustained virological response (SVR) rates. Although the status of hepatitis alone improves after achieving SVR, the risk of hepatocarcinogenesis remains. Thus, identification of hepatocarcinogenic risk factors after achieving SVR by DAA treatments and establishment of an appropriate surveillance system based on research findings are needed.
